FUD

Definition:

FUD is an acronym for Fear Uncertainty Doubt. FUD refers to a negative statement, or series of statements, meant to show a particular cryptocurrency in a negative light. FUD is usually done with the aim of driving down the price of a coin or token.

Explanation:

Someone who spreads FUD does so in the hopes that the negative news will cause widespread panic, resulting in increased selling activity. This increased selling causes the price of the cryptocurrency to drop, allowing the person(s) who created the FUD to buy the currency at a lower price. FUD may also be done for other malicious purposes. Someone who spreads FUD is called a FUDster or FUDder.
